Match Gosnells v Rockingham
Result 2.5 Gosnells 2.5 Rockingham
First of for tee for Gosnells was Alan McFarlane & Bob Cush, and the match was a very tight affair going all the way to the 18th Hole.
Never more than 1 hole in it all day, with Alan playing very solid all day, and Bob helping out on some holes it came down to the 18th hole ( 9th at Gosnells) where Bob had a stroke and hit a excellent chip to gimme distance to claim a well deserved win. Well done to Alan and Bob to get the team off to a good start.
Second off was Paul Whelan & Barry Urbano and this match was a well fought match with it going all the way to the 17th Hole before the boys fell to Rockingham 2-1 loss. Close match all day but just fell short.
3rd Off the tee was Rob Pearce & Ken Ferris, and this match came down to the last putt of the day. After a fast start Rob & Ken where 3 up after
4 holes and teaming well together before the Rockingham team fought back to be all square after 10 holes, Ken made a a great up & down on 11th (2nd Hole) to win this hole which proved pivotal to the win. After losing the 8 Hole to be all square, it came down to the last (9hole) giving a stroke to the opposition, we had a bit of luck, after Rocky missed a downhill putt to secure a half, Rob made a great up & down to secure a 1up win.
4th off The tee, was Michael Smart & Stuart Allen, got off to a good start with Stuart on fire early with 4 pars in a row and with Mickie helping his partner out on the front nine, after the 1st nine the boys where 1 up and teaming well together, starting the back 9 (1st hole) lost to a birdie to be all square, With Rocky having stokes to play with over the closing holes Mickie & Stuart battled bravely and it came down to the last hole where Mickie holed a 5 foot downhill putt to secure a well deserved half, Well done boys on a gusty effort.
5th off the tee was our Captain Tony Peroni and his able sidekick John O’Connor which played a tough match against Rocky giving away plenty of strokes . After a see saw game which saw both teams be up at some times during the match it was Rocky that came thru in the end winning 2 Up on Tony & John. Good effort lads.

Senior men pennant – blue division
Gosnells played host to Kwinana in our Senior pennant match on the 8th of May 2023.
We were very fortunate with the weather.
Division Blue is very tight with all home teams winning to date. Our last 2 matches are on the road which means the pressure is on the home teams to continue to win. An away win could determine who proceeds to the big dance in late May.
Gosnells Blue had a convincing 4 / 1 win against Kwinana with details as follows:
The ever-reliable Ken How & David Voysey lead us off with David in scintillating form. They wrapped up the match on the 13th hole with a 6/5 win.
Graham Bell & myself teed off second, and after a tight first 4 holes swept to a 7/6 win. Winning 7 of the next 8 holes.
The reining one half of last year’s MVP Terry Smith re-joined the team after his thumb injury teaming up with his original teammate Rod Chapman and had the biggest task of the day taking on a 3 & 8 handicapper. They eventually held up for a 2/1 win.
Eugene De Vries was bought in as a replacement & teamed up with Chris Hofman. They lead early on & held on for a 2/1 win. Thanks, Eugene, for filling in.
Ken Gray & Roy Wingrove played one of the inform teams in the competition who have won all games to date. Unfortunately, Kwinana started strongly and were three up after three. Despite fighting hard to get back into the match they went down 3/2.
We play Rockingham at Rockingham next Monday. A win away will go a long way to playing in the finals.

Alan McFarlane & Bob Cush lead the team off from the 10th tee and had an excellent result in winning 6/5 . It was there best result to date from the 4 matches they have played together and are teaming well with both helping out and winning holes. Great effort guys on getting the 1st point on the board.
Our two senior members of the team tee off second Barry Urbano & Paul Whelan, and had a tough battle with the opposition from Mandurah, before going down 2-1. In a tight battle right to the end the boys just failed to get the chocolates. Keep trying gents your luck will turn shortly.
Rob Pearce & Ken Ferris tee off next and it a tight contest prevail in a 3/2 win to keep there unbeaten run continuing . After being down 2 after 8 holes played the 18th to win and had the momentum on the back 9 to carved out a good win. The highlight of the day was Ken shot on the 5th hole from 156 metres out in the rough to hit it to a foot and a tap in

Michael Smart & Stuart Allen had a very good game winning 6/5 over Mandurah after being 1 down after the first the boys got on a roll and won the next 5 holes to be in a commanding position at the turn and never looked back. On the 4th hole Mickie hit a great shot in for a birdie to close out the match. Great effort guys.
Our Captain Tony Peroni & sidekick John O’Connor had a very tight match before losing 2-1 to the Mandurah boys, it was a topsy turvey match with Gosnells up in certain parts of the game before the opposition came back and hit the front in the dying holes to edge out Tony & John . Good effort boys .
