Men’s Division 2 results – Sunday 11 June
Gosnells Golf Club has been in Division 1 men’s pennants for the last 28 years and Sunday June 11 2023 was the club’s first match in Division 2 men’s pennant in our journey to return back into Division 1.
Gosnells team had some familiar faces in the team with some new ones to get the season off with a bang.
We started our campaign playing our first game at home against Mandurah GC .
First out was Paul Chrystall doing what he does best. With a solid iron game and knowledge of our course. He won 4 /3.
Number 6 – Adam Kuzimski had a close match, the lead seesawed a number of times during the day going down on the 17th hole 2/1.
Our Current Club Champion – Adam Elwell took the number 5 spot against a pretty solid opponent. The Match of the day. Adam was not going to well and on the 10th hole was 5 down against a confident Mandurah player. Adams game then turned and he started his fight back. His last eight holes was magnificent with birdies on 15, 17 and 18 winning 1 up.
Numbers 3 and 4 positions in the side were our new faces in the team of Cian McGarvey and Dan Barnett both were outstanding and both showed what Gosnells GC passion is all about. Cian winning on the 18th 1 up and Dan winning 3/2.
Our top two spots were two names that were always going to give it all to have nothing but wins, especially playing on their home course in Andrew Woods and Josiah Edwards. Both winning 3 /2 with a very clinical performance seen by both.

Men’s Div 5 results – Sunday 11 June
Div 5 took on Royal Freo at their home track for the first round of pennants this year.
The remnants of last years side (Duds, John and myself) led the team off and came back with a mixed bag of results.
Duds went down 2/1 (losing to a player who is now 9-0 in Div 5 pennants), John went down 18 1up but finished with a half as his opponent birdied the last and I won 2/1 despite having a terrible (terrible!) day with the putter.
Further up the order, Lee, Kai and Adrian all fought their hardest to get a win, but they unfortunately came up short – Lee and Adrian took it to the 16th and Kai had a slightly shorter afternoon.
Wayne, playing in his first pennants match for GGC, took the chocolates 5/3 in the biggest win of the day.
It’s always tough playing a strong opponent on their home track but we’re looking to knock Mandurah off down in Bunbury this weekend.

Men’s Div 6 results – Sunday 11 June
An exceptional result beating Royal Fremantle on their own patch. 4.5 to 2.5.
Starting at the top of the order. Matty Haines had a brilliant 3/2 win, usual stuff again this year from our No1.
Gerard had a close match but eventually came unstuck on the 17th to a Dustin Johnson lookalike, he actually hit the ball as far as him.
Great halve from the Terminator, John Connor, against the Royal Fremantle captain, this match went to the 18th hole. Now for the success stories of the day.
Our debutant Pennant players got us over the line. Great win for Debutant JT, Johnson Taylor who came home 2up. Reliable Rod Weston back this year from a pennants sabbatical got a great win 1up as well.
And what can I say, Debutant Simon Podesta, came from 5 down to win 1up. What a legend. Superb result. And last but not least Big Cecil Yorke took his match all the way to the last hole but unfortunately lost. All in all a superb start beating a home team on their own patch. Roll on next match.
