Men’s Division 2 Results

Gosnells GC-  4 v Melville Glades GC –  3

We travelled to Melville Glades GC to play Melville GC on their home course:

Josiah Edwards – Played well as always against an ex Gosnells long hitter Ethan Abraham. Josiah winning 2/1

Andrew Woods – Great Captains knock – Winning 2 up

Dan Barnett –  Playing an ex team mate and current Melville Glades Club champion…and boy was he long! Dan showed he wasn’t intimidated controlling the game. Winning 3/2

Cian McGarvey – Cian battled with his putter all day. Played solidly tee to green but the putter wasn’t showing any love. Going down 3/2

Adam Elwell – The come back king as always, the never give up attitude. Was 3 down most of the day but as always coming from behind winning on the 18th hole –Winning 2 up

Don Mclean – Stayed in touch for most of the day but was over powered towards the end. Going down 3 /2

Paul Chrystal – Mr 7 didn’t have the best of days nearly scraping in a half coming from 4 down going to the last hole – Going 1 down

Round 6 – 16th July is played at Kwinana GC against Hartfield CC @ 11.30AM

Men’s Division 4 Results

So, we were off to Kwinana to play top of the table Hartfield1 and we were still searching for our first win. Sports bet had us at odds of 20 to 1 to win.

Hartfield1 would of had the impression they were going to walk all over us and stay top of the table, but we had other ideas….

We got off to a slow start with loss for Nathan Willis 6 and 5 who played well but was dealing with a birdy maker.

But Josh Kader kept his good form and dispatched his opponent 2 and 3 with the help of super-caddy Adrian

Randall Heng had a hard loss going down 7 and 6 and word was going around that we were up with Mason and Adam as well as myself doing ok

George Ledger also had a hard time going down 7 and 5 coming up against an opponent having a day out.

Superstar Mason Burr was a machine out there and had a quality 6 and 5 win against their number 2 player

I probably went a few more holes that I should of but got my opponent out of there 3 and 1

It was 3 and 3 with Super-sub Adam Kusimski the only one left on the course, he was fighting hard and was 2 up with 2 to play against their number one player.

He was keen to not have us watch him finish so we left him alone with the other 7 Hartfield guys and caddies but unfortunately, he lost the last 2 holes but almost grabbed victory with a 5 metre texas wedge that hit the flag and did not stay in the hole.

So we halved with Hartfield and cost them their spot at the top of the ladder, as I was going to my car I heard some Hartfield guys mutter “how did we let that happen”.

I was proud of the Gossy guys fight and never give up attitude and we got ourselves off the bottom of the ladder

Bring on Rockingham at Bunbury this Sunday and let’s finish the season with 2 wins.

Halved match against a strong Secret Harbour Team.

We played out a hard fought match against a very strong Secret Harbour team. Their top 3 players all playing off 4 and 4 & 5 playing off 6 and 8. These guys were clearly in the wrong division.

Anyway in true Gosnells spirit we battled hard for a half.

Matt Haines //  Square

John Connor // Lost 2 down

Johnson Taylor // Lost 4&2

Rod Weston // Won 2&1

Women’s Senior Pennant

Today was Round 1 of Senior Pennants held at Mosman Park Golf Club, which is a 9 hole course. If you didn’t have success on the first 9, you have the chance to do better on the second 9! 😀

We played Royal Fremantle and had a successful day, winning 3 games to 1.

Deb Callcott and Bev Thompson, Team Captain, had a very close game however lost 1 up. Deb sunk a beautiful long putt on the 17th to continue to be square, however the the girls were just short on the 18th. A great match-up.

Andy Riggir and Lyn Johnston came from behind, scoring 3 pars in a row during their game, to win 2/1!

Sue Symes and Lynne Smith continued leading all the way, although being challenged, to win 2/1.

Sandy Alexander and Colleen Harvey had thankfully a less nerve-wracking time and won 6/5. Sandy scored double pars on one of the par 3s!! Very clever!!

We all enjoyed the day albeit a very long day with the new format, however our success made it all worthwhile!

Next week we play at Gosnells against Royal Perth. Fingers crossed for a home advantage!
