Junior and Senior Club Championships Round 1

The sun was shining for our members who competed in the opening rounds of our Junior and Senior Club Championships today. Well done to all participants, we will see you all next Sunday the 18th of August to crown the Junior and Senior Club Champions.

Junior Club Championships Round 1

With both of last year’s Junior champions not in this year’s field, there is a number of contenders vying to be crowned the GGC Junior Club Champion next Sunday. 

 

Junior Boys

Connor Roberts is the round 1 gross leader after carding a superb 73 (+3) today which included three birdies. He currently has a 5 shot lead over Ty Cleland who shot a first round of 78 (+8), closely followed by Connor Pearson and Blake Wager who are tied for third, each carding 79 (+9).

 

Junior Girls

In the girls championship, Saehi Suh leads the pack by 8 strokes after a first round 76 (+4). She has the opportunity to be both the Women’s and Junior Club Champion next weekend. Kayla Clarke (+12), Isabel Wee (+17), Alexandria Page (+18) and Brianna Chueakrungthep (+23) make up the rest of the top 5.

 

Junior Stableford

The Junior Stableford category is well and truly up for grabs next weekend with a handful of juniors in the mix after round 1. Ruby Stone scored a fantastic 39 points to lead after the first round but is closely followed by Kai Scott (38 points), Lynn Suh (35 points), Sopostar Fiu (33 points) and Ryker Sampson (32 points).

 

Senior Club Championships Round 1

After round 1, both the Men’s and Women’s Senior Club Championships are in the balance with no breakaway leaders so far.

 

Senior Men

In strong field of 64 players, Walter Panichi has the lead at the halfway point after a first round 74 (+4). Dave Dickie holed a long putt on 18 for birdie to finish in 2nd position with 75 strokes (+1). Paul Chrystall and John Taylor are next on the leaderboard, both shooting 76. Several others all broke 80, which will make next Sunday’s final round a great battle full of contenders. In the Nett category, Russel Redpath leads (-3) Dave Dickie and Ken Gray who both scored 2 under their handicap.

 

Senior Women

A great first round by our women sees joint leaders after 18 holes of golf. Both Ros Mciver and Kymberley Wilson carded 84 (+12) and are sure to be very competitive again next Sunday. Charlotte Hall sits in third (+16), followed by Lyn Bennet (+19) and Jin Seongsim (+22) who round out our top 5. Our women’s nett competition also has joint leaders as both Seongsim Jin and Sandra An had nett scores of +6.
