2024 IJG Gosnells Junior Invitational

Congratulations to the inaugural IJG Gosnells Junior Invitational Champions, Ollie Marsh and Halia Edwards.

The 54 hole event was played here at Gosnells Golf Club across the 16th to the 18th of December 2024. A strong field of 70 junior golfers assembled to take part in the inaugural year of competition, in which we hope to make a regular fixture in our Club calendar. Holding WAGR status, this event saw juniors from overseas make the trip to Perth to compete, including 7 Malaysian entrants, 2 Indonesians and 1 South Korean representative.

Ollie Marsh who is a member of Joondalup Country Club showcased his consistency over the three days of competition, carding scores of 71 (+1), 69 (-1) and 70 (E) to finish the tournament as Champion. He and runner up Liam Sullivan (The Vines Golf & Country Club) were locked in a tense battle on the final day going shot for shot until the 15th hole which Marsh was able to birdie while Sullivan bogeyed.

In the Girls Championship, 13 year old Gosnells Golf Club member Halia Edwards managed to fend off her competitors to take victory in a thrilling finish. Edwards led by 2 strokes on the final hole, ultimately bogeying it which was good enough to keep a 1 shot lead over Heejoo Cho and Isabella Leniartek who both finished the tournament on +20.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes attended the final day’s action, generously giving us some of her time to stay for presentations to honour and congratulate our 2024 Champions. We thank Mayor Lynes and the City of Gosnells for their support of this event. We would like to also thank Indonesian Junior Golf, the Malaysian Junior Golf Association, our generous GGC volunteers and Tournament Director Darren Roberts who all played a big part in creating and running this event.
