Club Captain’s Update

With the finalization of next years golfing calendar, to which we thank our Vice Captain Grace, we are now able to post those fixtures shortly in our online timesheets and we are likely to produce our annual fixtures book by mid to end January 2023.

A couple of notable fixtures you may wish to log into your calendars now:

  • GGC Summer Cup – 21 & 22 January 2023
  • GGC Senior Open – 21 April 2023
  • GGC Open – 22 & 23 April 2023

Both these events are open to all members with our Open being a state ranking event to male & female competitors and can be accessed through MiTournament.

From a club perspective, The International competition will take place on Saturday 28 January 2023, and this will be an all-day event played in team of 8, so captains, please collate your teams and colours.  Further information will follow after the festive season.

Our Opening day is scheduled on 25 February 2023 and will see the establishment of the inaugural Vice Presidents Putter, which will be played in the morning and the Presidents Putter to be contested in the afternoon. Both will be Club Honour Board events.

Pro Shop

I’m pleased to inform members with the appointment of Moka Edwards to Golf Operation Manager we are now in a position of control over our administration of golf operations. For the majority of members, this will have no impact but it is a large step in unburdening the volunteer system at the club and placing it in the hands of professionals.  We ask members to be patient with the stock levels currently and our team is working hard to establish and display stock in pro shop for the coming weeks.

Boundaries

A reminder to members for the need to be cautious of the line taken when playing close to our boundary fences. Any stray golf balls must be reported to club office via email to reception@gosnellsgc.com.au

Sponsorship

I would like all members, singularly or in groups to consider sponsoring a club competition day. This can be both beneficial commercially as well personally through participation within the club.

Course Care

The presentation of our course continues to improve, and I thank all those responsible, however we still have the occasional member not doing the right thing, i.e.: raking bunkers, repairing pitch markers, knocking in divots etc. This is your course so PLEASE look after it and should you see another member neglecting their duty of care please remind them, politely.

Gossip

I am aware of chat groups around the club and confess to being a member of a couple, but I ask, before you publish or pursue agendas, please ask for the facts on why decisions were made. This will not only result in you being better informed but save a number of volunteer members a lot of time and headaches when dealing with the matter on hand.

Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year of Golfing,

Paul Cooper

Club Captain

A kind reminder that our course and club is CLOSED On Christmas Day. You are not allowed to play on the course on this day and you will be trespassing if you do. A gentle reminder too that if you do cross the alarms in the clubhouse or surroundings, staff on their day off will need to call security if required (we can’t distinguish whether you are a member or non member from the alarms).

Our admin office is closed between 29 December to 2 January. The office will reopen on Tuesday, 3 January. Any urgent queries may be directed to pro shop for golf matters.
