Dear fellow members

Life Member nomination
I am pleased to update members that Hall of Fame member, Greg Rowden will be up for Life membership election at this year's Annual General Meeting. Greg was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year and has been nominated for Life Membership. The Life Member sub-committee convened and unanimously endorsed his nomination. This was carried to the Board who then also unanimously endorsed and carried the motion.
The final decision is now in the hands of members (and those who are eligible) who will vote at the AGM requiring 75% for the motion to pass. I encourage members to attend the AGM and support Greg. Should Greg be successful, we will hear from Greg and present him with this honor at this year's Gala Night.
Hall of Fame Inductees
The Hall of Fame sub-committee has convened for 2024 and nominated 2 members and 1 member posthumously for induction to the Hall of Fame. The board have endorsed all 3 nominations. These are:
Denis Wilkins (posthumously)
Colin Gorey
Lino Scartozzi
Colin and Lino were advised of their nomination during presentations at the recent Past Presidents and Captains Day. Our Hall of Fame nominees for 2024 will be inducted at the Gala Night in front of family, friends and members. I encourage all members to book and enjoy the evening.
Membership statistics (Year on Year)
Year on year, both our total members and playing members numbers have increased.
Total Members - increase of 8 (1%) from 844 to 852
Playing Members - increase of 16 (2.4%) from 658 to 674
Within the Playing categories the two biggest changes were:
Full Membership - down 10 (-3.3%) from 302 to 292
Lifestyle Membership - up 25 (16.1%) from 155 to 180
Overall, this has led to an improved and healthy financial position compared to past years. Club Treasurer Bill Keays will have more information regarding the financial performance in this year's annual report.
Project Update
The application to amalgamate the land as previously reported is underway. This has plagued the club for well over 30 years. The City of Gosnells has been very supportive of the club' s endeavors to remedy this land holding mess. This will provide passage for the club to be in a position to acquire the land we have been leasing.
We are shortly looking to lodge a Development Application with the City of Gosnells (Subject to land amalgamation) to develop and improve our club facilities.
Over the past 3 months, the Project Committee have been extremely hard at work advancing this project to the stage where we now can request funding and grants from the government.
Led by Vice President and Project Chair, Rob Olde, we have met with all levels of government, and obtained endorsement from Federal and State Government ministers, the City, Golf Australia, Golf WA, and local groups.
Rob, GM Fiza, and I recently presented to the City of Gosnells workshop hosted by the City's counselors and executives. The feedback we received was very positive.
The Clubhouse project is now at a mature stage. We can seek funding and apply for development approval. We have had the project fully costed by independent quantitative surveyors (as required).
It will be my pleasure to be joined by Rob and the board to provide all members with a detailed update on the clubhouse and facilities project at this year's AGM. I look forward to providing more at the AGM.
See you around the club.
