Dear Members,
As mentioned in my previous newsletter, we have compiled a list of upcoming works that will be carried out over the next few months. Below, I've outlined the scheduled projects along with estimated completion dates. Please bear with our greens staff and volunteers as these improvements take place, and we appreciate your patience during this time.
15th Bunker - Grass Regrowth
We are addressing a long-standing issue with the area in front of the right-hand side (RHS) of the new bunker. Currently, we've rotary hoed the area and are laying cores over the top to encourage grass growth. We expect to complete this by mid-March. This area will remain in GUR (Ground Under Repair) until deemed suitable for play.
Green Side Bunkers - Consistency Work
To improve the consistency of our green side bunkers, we have scheduled a one-day repair session on March 12th. A bobcat will be brought in to repair as many bunkers as possible in that time. This will help determine how many more repairs can be completed as part of the 26FY programme. A priority list of bunkers has been compiled, and work will proceed based on that. Please note that all bunkers undergoing repair will be GUR during this work.
7th Green - Surface Improvement
There is a bare patch in the middle of the 7th green that we plan to address. We will be removing the affected section and replacing it with new grass to enhance the playing surface. This work should be completed by mid-March.
11th Green - Weed Removal and Replacement
Some weeds have appeared at the back of the 11th green. We will remove a small section of the contaminated grass and replace it with new turf. This will help maintain the quality of the green.
8th Tee Box to Fairway - Ground Levelling
The area between the 8th tee box and the fairway has become uneven and bumpy. We will be rotary hoeing this section, laying new core material, and flattening it out. Our goal is to have this work completed by the end of March.
12th/11th Tree Line - Trimming for Shot Clarity
Standing from the 12th back tee, you may notice that the tree canopy is overhanging and narrowing the tee shot. We plan to trim the trees, including a few branches on the 11th side, to open up the shot and encourage a more favourable line to the left-centre of the fairway.
2nd Tee Box - Path Installation and Smoothing Transition
We are planning to install a granite-dusted path alongside the 2nd tee box. While the date for this work is still to be confirmed, we will also be smoothing the transition from the left-hand side bunker on the 1st hole to the 2nd tee box.
We appreciate your understanding as we carry out these essential works to enhance the golf course. Should you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Thank you for your continued support.
